The Future of Flooring

When I replaced the flooring in my home recently, I was surprised to find out that one of the options available to me was a cork floor. I’d always thought of cork as nothing more than the way to top off a bottle of wine. However, it turns out that cork is a great flooring option. It has many of the benefits of hardwood, but the texture and give of the material also adds some of the benefits of carpeting. I decided to start a blog about flooring so that I could share some of the benefits of interesting and lesser-known flooring options. Don’t be fooled into thinking that you only have a few choices. There are lots of great directions you can take with your home flooring that will perfectly suit your home and your needs.

How To Add An Industrial Element To Your Home's Exterior

Industrial design is one of the hottest trends right now in design. By using industrial elements like pipe, architectural sheet metal, and linear lines, you can make just about any home out there have an industrial flair. Although you can add these industrial touches to the interior of your home, you can do it on the outside as well. If you want to make your home's exterior look a little bit more unique, this article will list a few ways that you can add an industrial touch to it. Read on to learn some more.

Pipe Railings

One affordable way to make an industrial statement is to add metal pipes as your railings. If you have a front porch that has an existing railing, then consider replacing them with steel pipes. The unique thing about steel pipes is that they aren't that hard to work with; all you have to do is solder them together and use pipe fittings.

Add Architectural Sheet Metal

Another thing that you can do is add some architectural sheet metal to your homes exterior. If you find a metal worker, they can take this sheet metal and turn it into just about anything. For instance, you can add some to your roof to make an accent part over your front porch, you can add some on the side of your house so that it looks like siding, or you can even have them create metal awnings that cover your windows. The great thing about sheet metal is that it's fairly affordable, durable, and you can do just about anything with it.

Add Wood Planks

If your house is brick, you can paint the brick a solid color like black, grey, or white and then add some wood planks and sheet metal around windows to create a unique look. The combination of different textiles and textures will add some unique dimension to your home's exterior and make it really stand out from others in your neighborhood. Just make sure that you seal the wood planks before you apply them so that they don't get wood rot or termites later on down the line.

Industrial design doesn't have to be hard to achieve. With a little bit of time and creativity, you can create a home that you love and are excited to show off. To learn more, reach out to roofing companies like Berwald Roofing Inc and get some bids.
